Select Tax Type box contains a listing of all of the Tax Types which you have already defined.
Below this box are two buttons:
Add - Clicking on this button opens up a small dialog box into which you enter the name of the new Tax Type that you are going to create.
Remove - Clicking on this button will delete the currently selected Tax Type.
Tax Type Name - To add a new Tax Type Name, click in the field and enter the new name.
Tax Collection Agency -
To select a tax agency to apply to this type of tax, click on the combo box to the right of the Tax Collection Field and select the appropriate agency.
To add a new Tax agency name, click on the "Add" button which will bring up a dialog box into which you can enter the new agency name.
Rounding Method - Select a method of rounding from one the available options, by clicking in the combo box to the right of the field and selecting from one of the options below:
Up - If the tenths of a cent digit is greater than 0, the cents digit is incremented. Ex. $1.322 becomes $1.33.
Standard - If the tenths of a cent digit is greater than or equal to 5, the cents digit is incremented. Ex. $1.324 becomes $1.32 and $1.325 becomes $1.33.
Down - The tenths of a cent digit are dropped. Ex. $1.322 becomes $1.33.
Add Split - Opens a small dialog box in which you define the new tax split or range, as follows.
Split at $ - The price range at which the tax rate shown on the right will apply.
Example
Tax - The tax rate percentage. Enter your tax rate in the Tax box in the form of "6" or "6.00", meaning 6% tax as defined below.
Check for Max - if checked, the Split at $ field will be set to "Max", meaning this range extends to infinity.
Example:
Range1 = From $0.00 to $5.00 receives a tax of 5%; Range 2 = From $5.01 and above (Max.) receives an ADDITIONAL tax of 1%.
Percentage Tax - Checking this will process the tax as a percentage of the sale.
Fixed Rate Tax - Checking this will process the tax as a fixed amount rather than as a percentage of the sale.
Edit Split - Opens the same dialog box as Add Split above in which you can edit the selected tax split.
Remove Split - Deletes the currently selected Tax Split.
Add Jurisdiction - Clicking on the "Add" button opens a small dialog box into which you enter the new jurisdiction value.
Edit Jurisdiction - Clicking on the "Edit" button opens up small dialog box in which you can edit the selected jurisdiction value.
Remove Jurisdiction - Deletes the currently selected jurisdiction value.
