Receipt Printer and Cash Drawer Support

The YukonSoft™ Y.E.S.!™ Point-of-Sale software supports the OPOS standards for Receipt Printer and Cash drawer support.  Compliance with OPOS means that the user has available a wider choice of printer makes and models from which to choose.  It also means that installation and setup are greatly simplified.

The Y.E.S.!™ Point of Sale supports the use of any OPOS-compliant Receipt Printer that has been installed on the Point of Sale system.  The OPOS interface standard, jointly created by Microsoft and a consortium of hardware manufacturers (Epson, NCR and Fujitsu (ICL) ), is an abbreviation for "OLE for Point Of Sale."

CASH DRAWERS

 

Many OPOS-compliant Receipt Printers include an OPOS-compliant Cash Drawer port which may be used to connect one or two Cash Drawers to your Point of Sale system.  Such printers will usually utilize an RJ-11 or RJ-45 connector (6 or 8-pin) similar to the modular connector found on a telephone.  Multiple Cash Drawers, if supported by your Receipt Printers, are connected through a single connector via a "Y"-cable purchased from the Cash Drawer manufacturer.  Electronic Cash Drawers are most often (but not always) 24 Volt DC.  Check with the user's manuals for your Receipt Printer and Cash Drawer for the proper voltage match and connector type.  Make sure that you purchase an Electronic Cash Drawer that is compatible with your Receipt Printer.
